Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) – An aid vessel headed to Gaza, which is under a blockade by Israel, was taken over by the Israeli navy Tuesday.

No one was injured when the navy boarded the boat, the Irene. The navy was taking the boat to a port in Ashdod, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

Prior to boarding the yacht, an Israeli naval ship sent two warnings to its captain, telling him he was breaking Israeli and international law, according to reports. The captain ignored the warnings and continued sailing into the territory despite the blockade.

The boat, coming from Cyprus, consisted of 10 passengers and crew, including Jews from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Israel.

The cargo included toys, prosthetic limbs and textbooks. They planned to deliver them to the Gaza Mental Health Program.
