Bank of Choice, Greeley’s largest locally owned bank, laid off 12 employees, including six in the Greeley-Evans area, in the past few days, according to CEO Darrell McAllister. McAllister said the bank’s assets have shrunk by more than $100 million during the past year. “We looked around and said to manage the bank properly we’re probably overstaffed,” he said Friday afternoon. Beginning mid-week, six employees were let go among Bank of Choice’s three local branches – two in Greeley and one in Evans – and another six were laid off in the Denver market, he said. The reduction represents 5 percent of Bank of Choice’s statewide work force, which now totals about 240 employees.
