New York, NY, United States (AHN) – The blue chip index remained above 12,000 points for the second straight day on Wednesday but the S&P and Nasdaq ended lower as new clashes in Egypt raised jitters among investors once more.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average inched up 1.8 points or 0.02 percent to finish at 12,042 with Walt Disney, Caterpillar and Boeing as the top gainers.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index lost 3.56 points or 0.27 percent at 1,304. Insurer Genworth Financial led losers after reporting an unexpected fourth-quarter loss.
The Nasdaq Composite Index was down by a point or 0.04 percent closing at 2,750.
Crude oil futures for March delivery rose 19 cents to settle at $90.96 a barrel.
Gold futures for April delivery declined $3.10 to $1,337 an ounce.
