Seattle, WA, United States (AHN) – Boeing will issue the second production increase for its 777 twinjet commercial airplanes, as problems continue to delay the rollout of the 787 ‘Dreamliner.’
In response to strong customer demand globally, we are increasing our yearly production to 100 777s,” Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Jim Albaugh said in a statement. “The 777 is the twin-aisle market leader because of its superior operating economics, unmatched range and preference among travelers’ needs.”
The 777 is the world’s largest twinjet aircraft in operation, and can fly over 300 passengers over 9,000 nautical miles.
Boeing will deliver 8.3 planes a month by Q1 2013. Boeing has delivered 907 777s, with a backlog of more than 250 airplanes.
