Iran To Meet G5+1 In Turkey For Nuke Talks

Windsor Genova – AHN News News Writer

Tehran, Iran (AHN) – Iran will resume stalled nuclear negotiations with Britain, China, France, Russia, and the U.S. in Turkey this month but the exact date and agenda is still to be determined.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki announced Sunday the resumption of talks between Iran and the so-called G5+1. However, he said the agenda is still to be agreed upon by all parties.

The Turkish foreign ministry confirmed the hosting of the talks, which have been suspended since Oct. 1, 2009. The last meeting was held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The major powers are accusing Iran of building nuclear weapons and had pressed for new economic sanctions as members of the United Nations Security Council. But Tehran continues to insist that its nuclear program is intended for peaceful and civilian purpose.
