Pasadena, CA, United States (AHN) – NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is testing cloud computing, a virtual computing environment, to plan the daily activities for its Mars Rover project. NASA experts will work with Amazon.com to use cloud computing software and data to develop daily plans for rover operations.
Cloud computing allows users to pay-as-they-go for the data-crunching capacity they order on demand. It is a way to gain access to extra capacity when it is needed without having to pay for that capacity during periods of low demand.
Amazon.com recently announced it was offering free trial use of certain cloud computing services. Cloud computing allows users to remotely access services, files, software, services and other content over the Internet.
